Being stuck at home doesn’t mean you have to be out of business and out of touch. There are plenty of ways to stay productive and keep your salon services alive in the time of COVID 19 – all while you’re socially distancing and staying inside!
1. Connect with Your Clients!
Just because you’re at home doesn’t mean you can’t still check-in with your clients! If you have your clients’ emails or numbers, reach out and see how they are doing. Let them know you are still here for them for their beauty needs in these trying times – and don’t forget to let them know about any virtual services or pre-booking specials you are offering! Keeping client connections will continue to build your customer loyalty and ensure that they come right back when your salon is open for business again.
2. Clean & Organize Your Business
Now is the time to knock out all those spring cleaning and organization projects that you’ve been too busy to complete!
• Clean and organize your shop (but make sure you’re keeping up with social distancing regulations!)
• Organize your financial/legal documents
• Complete your 2019 tax return
• Brainstorm sales promotions for Q3 & Q4 to help ramp up revenue when you’re salon opens back up
• Give your salon a face-lift while it’s closed down – this temporary shut-down is a perfect opportunity to refresh your space! Looking to change up your salon equipment? Buy-Rite is still open during our regular hours and taking calls for consultations.
• Go through your book and create a spreadsheet that shows where and how you’re spending your time at the salon. See how your services are impacting your business and make adjustments to boost your sales when you re-open.

3. Ongoing Communication with Your Team!
It is very important to stay connected with your stylists and other employees throughout this time of disruption. Check in with them and make sure they are doing okay and help them find ways to continue making some money during the salon’s temporary closure. Make sure you keep them in the loop on what’s going on, any new updates, what you are working on, and how they can stay connected with their clients.
4. Video Stylist Appointments
Just because the salon is closed doesn’t mean all appointments need to be cancelled. This is the perfect time to offer your clients one-on-one appointments to teach them styling techniques you never had time to teach them in the salon! Help your clients look great on their Zoom meetings by teaching them cute beachy waves, simple updos, or braids!
5. Social Media Revamp
Take this time at home to up your social media game!
– Update your salon’s information
– Post updates on your salon’s status
– Post How-To Videos: Stay in touch with your clients and draw in new clients by posting how-to videos on hair, nail, and lash upkeep while salons are closed. Take this time to start an IGTV channel and gain followers!

Your clients can call ahead, and employees can bring the products out, sanitize them, and leave them at the client’s car!
7. Base Color Kits
Your clients don’t want roots – keep them away from using box color, preserve the quality of their hair for your future services, and make some money while you’re at it! Clients can call or book ahead, and your stylists can create care packages that include their personalized color formula, gloves, brushes, a bowl, a comb, and step-by-step instructions.
